15 TED NEWTON has been promoted to foreman in the Production De partment of the Ecusta Paper Di vision. He was assigned to Ecusta's replacement crew when employed in July 1951. He moved in 1953 to the machine room where he has had various positions from third hand to machine tender. He is assigned to machines 10, 11 and 12. A na tive of Jackson County, he at tended Brevard High School. He worked with Western Auto in Bre vard before joining Olin. ROBERT J. NICHOLSON has been appointed superintendent of finish ing in the Film Division plant at Pis gah Forest. He was assistant to the director of production prior to tak ing charge of the finishing opera tion. He joined the Ecusta Paper Di vision Production Department in May 1951. After transfer to the Accounting De partment, he held several positions before being made cost ac counting supervisor. He had been promoted to assistant controller for Film financial analysis before moving to the Film Production De partment. A native of Savannah, Ga., he graduated from Brevard High School and studied accounting at the former Asheville-Biltmore Junior MICHAEL L. KIRBY has been ap pointed product manager for electro- statically perforated cigarette ppper in the Ecusta Paper Division. Kirby has transferred to Pisgah Forest from California where he was wes tern regional manager in charge of the San Francisco office for fine paper sales. He has been with Olin since September 1966 when he joined the Indus trial Relations De partment as per sonnel staff as sistant. He was employee com munications sup ervisor when he moved to Ecusta's Marketing De partment in Sep tember 1970 as customer service specialist. He later served as market planning specialist and customer service manager before his appoint ment to the West Coast in October 1973. A native of Darlington, S. C.. where he graduated from St. John’s High School, Kirby graduated from Furman University with a B.A. de gree in Psychology. He was a stu dent body officer and member of the Blue Key leadership fraternity and the Furman University Singers. He earned his Master's degree in Industrial Psychology at Furman. He served in the Army Medical Ser vice Corps for two years, attaining the rank of captain. In 1970 he was listed in Outstanding Young Men of America. During his earlier resi dence in Brevard he served as both campaign chairman and first vice president of the Transylvania County United Fund. JUDITH C. ROBINSON has been appointed administrative super visor for purchasing in the Fine Paper and Film Group. She has been with Olin since October 1966 when College. He is a member of the Na tional Association of Accountants. she was secretary to Ecusta Paper Division’s fibre manager. She la ter worked as sec retary to Ecusta's vice president and general manager, and more recently worked in areas of fibre manage ment, planning, procurement and engineering. Vale dictorian of both her high school and college graduating classes, she attended public schools at Beckley, W. Va., and Beckley College where she was journalist on the college paper. She is a native of Beckley. Mrs. Robinson was secretary in a Beckley engineering firm, and later worked three years as secretary to the Dean of the Graduate School at Appalachian State University at Boone. She was one of three co- chairmen of the 1976 United Way campaign at Olin’s Pisgah Forest plants when employee pledges reached a record high of almost $27,500. She has been active in par ent-Teacher Associations at various schools, and is a former member of Jaycettes. She is the wife of Frank B. Robinson, teacher and coach at Brevard High School. LARRY L. CHAPMAN has been em ployed by Olin Corporation’s Ecus ta Paper Division as a foreman in the Finishing Department. A native of Brevard and vard High School graduate of Bre- Chapman worked in the Film Divi sion Finishing De partment during vacation from Western Carolina University where he earned a B.S. degree in Indus trial Technology. He qualified for the dean’s list four times while in col ¬ lege. He was a first lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps which he served for three years. Before joining Olin he was employed by Alton Box Board Co. and National Comp. Assn.
